MEMT 953. Advanced Acoustical and Psychological Aspects of Musical Behavior. 3 Hours.

Study and experimental investigation of acoustical, psychoacoustical, and psychological phenomena as they influence music. Attention will be given to physical parameters; estimation of pitch, loudness, and timbre; magnitude estimation; theories of consonance; experimental aesthetics; and measurement and prediction of musical ability. Each student will be expected to complete an experiment or quasi-experiment related to human musical behavior. (Same as PSYC 853.) Prerequisite: MEMT 453 or equivalent, or permission of instructor.
