SLAV 566. The Devil in Russian Literature. 3 Hours H.

This course traces the various manifestations of the Devil through Russian and European folklore, myth, theology, culture, and literature. Although the focus is on Russian literature, classic European works are discussed, as they had a powerful impact on the modern Russian Conception of the Evil One. Readings in English.
