The Communication Studies department requires completion of admission criteria in order to be admitted to the major. Review admission requirements here

The Communication Studies major requires that students choose a primary and secondary concentration within the major. This plan displays the required courses for a primary concentration in Interpersonal/Intercultural Communication, with an open choice for the secondary concentration. Note: the secondary concentration courses must be chosen from the same concentration area for both the breadth and depth of discipline requirements.  Refer to the Degree Requirements tab for more information, or contact your advisor.

COMS 356 is required for the major and requires admission to the major in order to be able to enroll.

Please note that the Bachelor of General Studies degree requires completion of the requirements of a single BGS major AND a secondary field of academic study (a second major, co-major, or minor).  This sample plan is based on the completion of a minor.  If a second major is selected instead, elective hours on plan will be needed for these additional major requirements.

Please note:

All students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are required to complete 120 total hours of which 45 hours must be at the Jr/Sr (300+) level.

The same course cannot be used to fulfill more than one KU Core Goal.
