The Military Transition certificate is a credit-bearing certificate that provides resources and training for service members separating from active-duty and veterans looking for new career opportunities. By addressing key competency areas for reentry into the civilian workforce, this program will enable participant students to quickly acclimate to civilian life both personally and professionally.
Admission to the certificate program:
Students seeking completion of the certificate only are admitted as non-degree seeking students.
Degree seeking students who fit the following criteria are admitted to the certificate program:
- Retiring active-duty military, National Guard, and Reserves within their last 18 months of service, as well as veterans of the US military
- Proof of military or veteran status should be a DD 214 (for those who have left the service) or a valid military ID card
Admission and enrollment will be managed manually by a specified staff member.
Upon admission to the certificate program, the following four courses (12 hours) must be completed:

Certificate Hours & GPA
While completing all required courses, each of the following hour and GPA minimum standards must also be met:
Certificate Total Hours
Satisfied by a minimum of 12 hours.
Certificate Hours in Residence
All certificate coursework must be completed at KU.
Certificate Junior/Senior (300+) Hours
Satisfied by a minimum of 6 hours from junior/senior courses (300+) in the certificate.
Certificate GPA
Satisfied by a minimum of a 2.0 KU GPA in all coursework which may apply to the certificate.
