An introduction to the history, methods of study, and forms of evidence for Greek and Roman art from Archaic Greece to Late Antiquity (600 B.C.E.-400 C.E.), mainly sculpture, painting, and crafted objects. Emphasized topics include: the diversity of approaches towards the study of ancient artifacts, cross-cultural exchange between the cultures of Greece and Rome, ancient vs. modern definitions of art and artists, patrons and audiences, and current debates about ancient art.
