EALC 415. Ancient China. 3 Hours NW / H.

A survey of ancient Chinese culture to the Qin period. Major archaeological discoveries and the literary tradition are taken as the primary evidence through which a number of topics are introduced (for example: environment, food, writing, art, thought, ritual). A knowledge of Chinese is not required. The course is offered at the 400 and 700 levels, with additional assignments at the 700 level. Not open to students who have completed EALC 725. LEC.
