HIST 507. Early Roman Empire. 3 Hours H.

A political, social, and economic investigation of the early Roman Empire from Augustus to Diocletian emphasizing how Rome held together a world-empire until economic and military problems forced a complete reorganization of the imperial system. (Same as CLSX 507.) Prerequisite: Successful completion of a Classics course (CLSX, GRK, or LAT), or a history course numbered below 500, or permission of instructor. LEC.
