An exploration of the "woman question" in nineteenth-century Russia as treated in literary texts. Authors to be included are: Tolstoy, Turgenev, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, as well as women writers such as Karolina Pavlova and Evgeniia Tur, and prominent literary and social critics. Readings in English.
