Architects and designers have long recognized the important connections between the built environment and human health and well-being. This certificate allows students to study those relationships in depth and gain real-world experience in firms doing significant work in a variety of practice fields, including healthcare facility design, environments for special populations, and environments that promote community and social health.
Completion of the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Architecture of Health & Wellness varies according to each student’s academic situation. Students in the NAAB accredited Master of Architecture program would complete the certificate by taking ARCH 807 and ARCH 808 in the final year of the program and are strongly encouraged to take ARCH 800. All students (either those enrolled or not enrolled in the professional Master of Architecture program) would take a total of fifteen (15) graduate hours in courses approved by the Health & Wellness faculty.
