Minor in Healthcare Management
The minor in health care management is an introduction to relevant topics for managers in health care organizations, and pairs nicely with a variety of undergraduate degrees. Throughout this18-credit minor, students examine topics of relevance for managers working in health care settings such as financial and reimbursement concepts, legal and regulatory concerns, uses of health information systems, quality improvement approaches, as well as health information privacy and security.
The career preparation offered in this minor relates to the occupational classification of Medical and Health Services Managers, as published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics at the U.S. Department of Labor.
This minor is available to current undergraduate students at the University of Kansas (all campuses). The ideal student for the minor in healthcare management has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The minor requires students to complete 18 hours (6 courses) with a “C” or higher in all required courses.
